Privacy & Children's Privacy Notice

Sk8erz Library is made for explorers roughly ages 8–15, with a grown-up alongside. A grown-up (parent or legal guardian) holds any account and authorizes any activity that leaves the child's own device.

Browsing the Library, the Worlds, quests, Ways of Knowing, Runes and the Field Book does not require a child account or a child sign-in. There is no child login, no child email address, and no child password.

Where implemented, a child's Sk8erz Card, nickname, avatar choices, badges, Rune Journal entries, trail notes and Field Book writing are stored locally in that browser on that device. Sk8erz does not upload or read that local content, and clearing browser storage removes it.

Sk8erz does not ask children for a legal full name, exact date of birth, home address, phone number, school, health details, personal photographs of themselves, or location. Please do not send these to us.

A grown-up who wants to use the Parent Center creates an account with an email address and password, handled by our hosted authentication and database service. Inside the Parent Center a grown-up can create a Card reference for a child, and can grant or withdraw separate, purpose-specific permissions — for example, permission to submit one piece of artwork.

Permissions are not a single blanket consent. Each protected activity is authorized on its own and can be withdrawn.

• Only a signed-in grown-up can submit artwork, and only for a Card they own.
• Submitted image files are stored in private storage that is not publicly listable.
• A submission is not public. It waits for Sk8erz moderation, and Sk8erz may approve, return, or decline it at its discretion.
• At authorization time the grown-up chooses a short display nickname, and an avatar reference is frozen with that artwork. If it is approved, only that frozen nickname and avatar appear beside the artwork.
• The underlying Card, the parent account, contact details, and the private original file are never published.
• Audio and video submissions are not accepted on the public Art Wall at this time.

There are no public child profiles, no comments, no direct messages, no followers, no likes, no leaderboards and no public totals. Children cannot contact each other through Sk8erz Library.

Sk8erz Library does not run behavioral advertising, ad networks, or third-party ad or social tracking pixels. Roam, the Sk8erz companion, currently speaks only from people-written scripted lines. Open-ended AI chat, voice, microphone access, speech recording and conversation storage are switched off and no conversation transcripts are kept.

Like any website, Sk8erz Library cannot operate without some technical processing. Our hosting, database, storage and email providers process technical information such as IP address, request timing, browser/user-agent details, and error diagnostics in order to serve pages, keep the site secure, and deliver account or notification email. Sk8erz uses these categories of service providers today:

• website hosting and content delivery
• hosted database, authentication and file storage
• transactional email delivery (account and notification email)

Sk8erz does not sell personal information.

A grown-up may ask what Sk8erz holds for their account, ask for a correction, withdraw a permission, ask for a submitted or published artwork to be taken down, or ask for the account to be closed. Use the Sk8erz contact address published on the site. We may need to confirm you control the account email before acting on a request.

Some records from earlier versions of the site are retained in a non-public, isolated form while the owner finalizes a retention decision (see below).

Access rules are enforced at the database level so a grown-up sees only their own records, private originals are kept in private storage, and administrative functions require an administrator role. No website can promise perfect security, and Sk8erz does not make that promise.
